Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-09-03

Pixmood is a mood journal designed with privacy as a core principle. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app does with your data. The short answer: your journal never leaves your phone.

Your data stays on your device

All your mood entries, notes, tags and settings are stored only on your device, in a local SQLite database. There is no network layer for user data. Pixmood does not send your data to a server, because there is no server to send it to.

No account, no sign-in

You do not need to create an account, provide an email or sign in to use Pixmood. The app works fully without an internet connection.

Period and cycle data

Cycle tracking is fully optional and never runs unless you explicitly turn it on. All cycle data, including your period days, cycle preferences and predictions, is stored only on your device; it is never sent to a server, never shared with third parties, and never used for advertising or analytics. You can delete this data from within the app at any time; deleting the app removes all data on the device as well. The fertility window and period predictions are rough estimates; they are not medical advice and not reliable for contraception or pregnancy planning.

Voice notes

Voice notes are optional. Recordings are stored only on your device, never uploaded anywhere, and the microphone is accessed only while you are recording. You can delete a voice note at any time.

Purchases and subscriptions

Pixmood Pro is optional and is bought only through the App Store or Google Play; Pixmood never sees your card details. To verify on the device whether a subscription is active, RevenueCat is used as the subscription infrastructure. RevenueCat receives only the store-generated purchase receipt, a random anonymous app identifier, and device and app version information; never your name, email or journal content. That identifier is not used for advertising or profiling. Details: revenuecat.com/privacy.

Anonymous usage analytics

To understand which features are used, Pixmood can send anonymous usage events through Aptabase, a privacy-focused analytics service. There is no persistent device ID, no advertising ID and no user profile; sessions are anonymous. Your mood values, notes and tags are never part of these events, and your journal content is never sent anywhere.

No ads

Pixmood shows no ads. There is no ad SDK inside the app; no advertising ID is read and no data is processed for advertising purposes.

Permissions

Pixmood asks only for minimal permissions tied to features you use: biometric (for the app lock), notification (for reminders), microphone (only while recording a voice note), camera (only while adding a photo to your day) and photo (to pick a day photo or save a share card to your gallery). Photos, like all your data, stay on your device only. No location or contacts permission is requested, and there is no Apple Health / HealthKit access.

Data portability

From Settings you can create a backup file in one tap: your days, photos and voice notes are packed into a single file you can restore on any device. The file is created on your device and is never sent to us or any other server. Your data is yours; you can take it or delete it any time. When you delete the app, the data on your device is removed too.

Children

Pixmood is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. It never asks anyone for a name, an email or an account.

Backups

So that you do not lose data when you reinstall the app or change phones, your device's own backup system can be used. On iPhone that is your iCloud storage; on Android it is your Google account backup. In both cases the backup stays between you and Apple or Google: Pixmood has no server and cannot reach it. Only the journal database (moods, cycle entries, settings) is included in the Android cloud backup; photos and voice notes are not sent to the cloud and travel only through wired or wireless device-to-device transfer and the backup file you create yourself.

Compliance

Pixmood is designed to align with GDPR and KVKK principles. Because your journal never leaves your device and analytics are anonymous, the personal data processed is minimal.

This website

This website follows the same principle. Zero cookies, zero third-party trackers, zero ad code. Not a single line of tracking script is sent to your browser, and no connection to any external service is opened.

Short download link (pixmood.app/get)

This single address detects your device and takes you straight to the App Store or Google Play. While redirecting, we count on our own server how many people go to which platform: device type (phone/tablet/computer), operating system, browser, country and city, browser language, the domain the link came from, and a campaign tag if present (e.g. ?ref=instagram). This counting is entirely first-party; no third-party analytics service is involved, and no cookie or tracking script is written to your browser. Your IP address is NOT stored: it is read momentarily to derive country and city, then hashed irreversibly with a secret key that rotates every day so the same person is not counted twice within a day. The next day that hash is different, which means tracking you across days is not possible. This data is never sold or shared; it only tells us which post actually worked.
